can i get a referral from family dr, general practicioner, to be hospitalized in a mental hospital for long standing depression, bi-polar, substance abuse, and recent withdrawal from 4 yrs methadone, (11 days now) since she has treated me for years and knows my history?

what does it feel like?
any side effects?
