How can I convince my friend to detox from heroin?

I understand that I can’t force anyone to do anything they don’t want to and that they have to be mentally ready to make those kind of changes in their life. But I really love this friend of mine and I want to get under her skin enough to make her want to quit the drug. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Sadly not much you can do. The drug is only part of the problem, the wish to take something strong enough to cancel out real life is the main issue.

I guess intervention, mentioned above, means locking them up for 2 weeks so they can't get any, going through cold turkey and coming out the other side clean. Or put them in a car and drive them somewhere that's too far to walk home from... the Yukon springs to mind. This might work, but if the reason she used is still there, the first thing she'll do is find a dealer.

Heroin addicts can live long lives, but rarely good ones. The chance she'll get tainted gear is high. If she's only smoking, not injecting, it's an easier process.

why not try an intervention,....get her family,friends,every and anyone who loves her and have an intervention.good luck to you and your friend!
